Sabbatical Course

For Hwa Chongians, you will have a sabbatical course to attend during sabbatical week, right? Basically, I am going to share my sabbatical I have bid and be chosen.
I am chosen to attend the 'CSS Website Design'. Basically, I am not good and not interested at CSS. CSS stands for Cascading Style Sheet. It contains lots of code to type in the notepad. It is mixed with the HTML Document. I do not like to recognise those complex codes. My spatial is not so high to design my CSS Website well. To enhance my creativity, I often look at a picture and think for what is it.

My classmate, Chia Hou Yi, who likes CSS and HTML of course very much, is the only classmate who is also attending the same sabbatical course. He is excel at computer skills. During the IS lesson, he is always the first one to answer the questions asked by the teacher, I wish I can learn more from him.

So, if you want to share your opinion, feel free to comment on my blog.

Lady Gaga - Alejandro

I believed that everybody knows this song by Lady Gaga. But, I think that everyone will feel surprise of this song. Why?
Usually, if you are fond of Lady Gaga's songs, you may notice that her songs are 'rough' and with complex MVs. You may even feel uncomfortable when watching those MVs, but this is Lady Gaga's style. Finally, her new song ---- Alejandro, filled with the sympathy of her towards warriors in Spain during World War I. Lyrics in this song contains language other than English, such as: Alejandro, En Su Bolsillo, etc. "Alejandro" is quite soothing, so it is now very famous and popular. Please enjoy the song:

You may notice, this song spends two minutes on her MV without any music and lyrics, so it needs 'patient' to watch or sometimes you can rather skip them.

"Tap Tap Revenge", an popular game of Iphone also released "Fireflies" as one of the songs in the game. It will be something look like this:

Furthermore, Adam Randal Young is a vegetarian and a christian.

The END of my SCARY Co-curriculars activities!!!

Hooray! This Friday is my CCA's last training. Maybe some of you know that my CCA is St. John. This CCA is exhausting. Usually, people will think that St. John is a CCA which focuses their topic about the emergency aid, but in my training my squadmates and I were asked to conduct foot-drill.(Marching)

Okay, here is a simple introduction of my CCA. My CCA's trainings are on Wednesday & Friday weekly. On Wednesday, the training is generally from 3:00p.m. to 6:30p.m., that sounds quite short, isn't it? But when we are having foot-drill, every 30 minutes of foot-drill will be only provided 5 MINUTES water break. Additionally, there are so many members in my platoon, I am not able to hydrate myself often. On Friday, the training is even more dire. It is from 2:30p.m. to 6:30p.m. I need to get into my full brigade uniforms, can you imagine the hotness I have when I am wearing my uniform. The uniform is made of thick cloth, and the beret has a tiny plastic thing which I am not sure what to call it. But the biggest problem is, the plastic little thing keep pressing my forehead during the training. I feel extremely uncomfortable, I wonder how do my squadmates persevere this.

Lastly, when I know this announcement, I am so happy. I can have more free times to do my daily routine. I do not need to wash my uniforms frequently again, and as well as polish my black shoes used during St. John's training.

*Note: If you are my St. John's PCs or NCOs, please feel relaxed when watching my post. Thanks.

Analysing Poem

The Son is in Secondary School by Affian Sa’at

My badge has a Latin motto
Hope for the future
The future is hope
Or something

At times black crows try to interrupt
When we sing the National Anthem

It is difficult to maintain
The whiteness of my shoes
Especially on Wednesdays

I must admit there is something quite special
About the bare thighs of hardworking scouts

The Malay chauffeurs
Who wait for my schoolmates
Sit on the car park kerb
Telling jokes to one another

Seven to the power of five is unreasonable

On Chinese New Year
Mrs Lee dressed up
In a sarong kebaya
And sang Bengawan Solo

The capital of Singapore is Singapore

My best friend did a heroic thing once
Shaded all A’s
For his Chinese Language
Multiple-choice paper

In our annual yearbook
There is a photograph of me

Pushing a wheelchair and smiling
They caught me
At the exact moment

When my eyes were actually closed

Analysis:
The poet has a great hope for his school. This shows that the poet loves his school very much. The school badge with Latin mottto indicates the poet's school is origin from Latin. The poet is very loyal to Singapore as he says that the black crow try to interrupt them to show that he is disturbed by the black crow to sing the national anthem.

For the third stanza and fourth stanza, the poet shows that he has co-curriculum activity, the uniform group scouts, on Wednesday. The poet tells the readers that he has the schoolmate who is rich as the fifth stanza in the poem shows that the poet's schoolmate has chauffeurs to drive him home, this means that his schoolmate's parents are quite rich enough to hire Malay chauffeurs. The chauffeurs are more proffesional than the drivers.

For the sixth stanza, the poem means that it is racial harmony. Mr Lee, who is a chinese, dressed in other races' traditional clothes. The poet felt very 'ridiculous' of his friend once who shaded all answers A in a multiple choice test.

The poet feels very happy as he says there is a photograph of him in his school's annual yearbook which shows that he reminisced the time he was taking the photograph with his schoolmates.

Throughout the whole poem, it clearly shows that the poet enjoys himself the life in the secondary school very much.

Cross-Country Competition

In the end of February, there was a cross-country(or maybe marathon) in Hwa Chong Instituition. I hate it very much because I always get a "good" result in my primary school. I was very exhausted after the run in my primary school last year. I do not like to run, or even jog. I think that it is just wasting my time, I prefer soccer very much because soccer including run, kick and catch. I can do more type of sports than running in the field.
When I read the SMB, I noticed a post by Mr. Tok( My PE teacher), he said that there were "Milo Man". I was so glad because I could dink Milo after run. The day of the run, the first 6 fastest runner were chosen to run first. As for the rest of us, we ran later because teacher said that we ran just for fun.
When the run start, many participants rushed to the end of gate 3, which is located at the end of the field. I just walked briskly(or in a way of relaxing myself), I thought that I was not going to get a good position at the end of the race. So why rushed? Just wasted my energy. Reeeeeeelaxing, that feeling was so good!! The participants ran in front of me must be had a decent stamina. But when I saw a lot of people behind me, I rushed. In front of me was a steep slope, or maybe just a gently slope. No matter how, I felt like I had no weight at all, until I reached the end of it. I was almost felt like my sight was blackout, I was too tired, it still had a long way to go.
There were some students distributed mineral water to us, but I was not thirsty at all, so I kept running. At the slope that going down to the gate 2, I rushed again, but this time, I slowed down my pace. On the passage that connected gate 2 to gate 3, there were some people who liked to run passed by me, I was very imppressive of their stamina.
Finally, I turned 90 degrees to left when I reached gate 3. I entered the track again. Yeah, I had just only about 600 meters to finish this run. I was tired that time, still, I continued my walk until the last few meters and I DASHED. Tiiiiiii! The alarm beeped. One student in charge said the duration of me to finish this run. I got 12 minutes and 8 seconds, it was not a good result.
I took my belongings and went to the "Milo Van". The queue was so long that I had to wait for about 10 minutes for a cup of Milo. When the announcer announced the final result, obviously I did not get any prizes. After that, the teachers dismissed us, I finally went back to the boarding school and rested.

Cu-Curricular Activities

First, I want to ask all you readers, are you satisfied with your CCA? Do your CCA is the one you like or just being chosen by the teachers?(Please answer the question in your comment)
As for me, my CCA is Saint John Ambulance Brigade. It is not the CCA I want because I had participated in this CCA in my school and I felt very tired because I hate marching. I need to follow a lot of instructions given by my teacher. The teacher is very humourous but also very strict. I reminisced the time that one of the member of the SJAB was abscene and was seen by my teacher that he was sitting with his friend and playing handphone games in my primary school, and the teacher was very furious. I did not know whether teacher scolded him or just advised him not to do so next time. But when I saw teacher's angry face, I was very scared. Actually, not only me but the whole class.
Back to my CCA in the Hwa Chong Instituition, the first day I went to this CCA, the sergeant told us about the history of the Saint John and when it arrived to Singapore. Next, we played some games as the welcome from the sergeants and the sir. We were told to introduce ourselves but everyone spoke very soft. After that, we went to the field and put some chairs as the goal posts.(That means we played football) Our teammates, Teoh Zhi Charles, touch the ball 4 times, and give opponent penalties. Haha! We lost shamefully.
The next training, we learned to march. Because I learned to march in my primary school, so it is easy but when the sergeant said "tiam",(Actually, it is a Malay word and it is called diam and it means shut up, but the sergeant said it means don't move) we could not move at all. My face felt very itchy, I wanted to scratch but the sergeant said that we must seek permission from him to scratch.
After that, we had a "competition" to see that who can reach the longest time of non-moving. I was impressive with my friend Yi Shun, he did not move for over 15 minutes. As for me, I just bear for 8 minutes. We ran from the gate to the end of the lane after having that "competition", I thought the sergeant wanted to train our stamina. Finally, it was time to dismiss. Yeah!!! I was exhausted and finally they dismissed us.
So, do write your process of you going to the CCA training in your comment.

Journal of Seargant Jack Noonan

Intrapersonal
I have done the home learning posted in Summary Message Board. After the test, my result is I am a intrapersonalist. So, I am told to write a journal about someone in the story of "Lamb To The Slaughter"

Journal of Sergeant Jack Noonan

I got a serious case which my colleague was killed. When I received a call from Mrs Maloney, I realised that Patrick was murdered. I felt very sad that he was already passed away.

I brought along some policemen to look into the scene in the living room to find out who murdered him and how Patrick was murdered. When I reach Mrs.Maloney's house, I found that the actions and mood of Mrs. Maloney was unusually weird. I also found that there was a small patch of congealed blood. I showed it to O'Malley. Now I finally understood that Patrick Maloney was killed by a blunt and heavy weapon. But we hardly found anything related in Mrs. Maloney's house.

But, Patrick should notice the murderer when he was going to be murdered. He should scream loudly and Mrs. Maloney would notice but she did not say so. The murderer could not possible to be a hitman because the blood were not spurt out like the water. I was also curious that how could the murderer break into the house so easily.

If the murderer brought heavy metal object, he was easily be noticed and if he did not be careful, he would make the sound of the dropping metal. If the murderer did not bring weapon, how could he break the garage to steal the spanner to kill Patrick.

Something more weird happened. Mrs. Maloney invited us to have some glasses of whisky. What was the purpose of her to serve us with whisky. When we denied to drink whisky, she persuaded us to dink. Normally, people would just take away, but she did not do so. When I went inside the kitchen, I noticed that there was a leg of lamb, I thought the murderer used it as a weapon. In the oven, the leg of lamb might very hot, so the murderer could not take it, maybe the murderer had his own way to kill Patrick. But who was the murderer, it was still a mystery.

Mrs. Maloney invited us to eat the leg of the lamb. That time, I was very hungry and I did not care so much so I just ate it. It was very weird that Mrs. Maloney invited us to have the leg of the lamb and whisky because why she did not keep them herself and invited her friends but not cop. I made a careless mistake that I forgot to take the thumbprint of the leg of the lamb. I should still investigate it the next day.

End Of Year Exam is COMING!!!

The EOY Exam in term 4 is just around of corner, so I need to concentrate more on my weak subjects. I have been exempted from none of the subjects. LA(Literature Art) is one of my weakest subjects. Sometimes, I am very confused of the poem. For comprehension, my writing speed is not very fast, so I need to paraphrase my answers to ensure that I am able to complete the comprehension's question.

For intelligent students, they may be exempted from most of the subjects. They are able to put the most effort into their weak subject. Therefore, they may probably feel no fear of the EOY Exam. Unlike them, I have to work very hard to pass the exam. Therefore, many CCAs are going to stop to provide the students the time to study. Usually, if your academic performance is well, you will think that the EOY Exam is nothing hard to you because its questions are based on the topics you have learned during the lesson in the class. Those exercises given by the teacher are also a good reference for study.

To deepen my knowledge, library becomes my favourite place to visit. I borrow the books from the library to study. Those books are also good sources for the candidates in the EOY Exam to study. Brainstorming in a group of many students is also a good way to revise and reflect the topics you have learned in the class. Surfing the webs and find for information is also one of my ways to study. I research for a focused topic and I am able to learn more in that topic. Sharing the informations you get in the webs to your friends is a good way to help them to improve them as well as yourself in the academic results.

Those ways of study listed above are my preferable techniques and tactics for good results. You can suggested your own way of study in the comment. Sharing your ways of study can help to improve the academic result between each other. To get the decent result in the EOY exam, I need to work harder from now.

First week in Hwa Chong Instituition

15-1-2010 is the first week I study in this school. The syllabus is much higher than in Malaysia that makes me think that I was not able to follow up. I listen very attentively to what teacher had said. I usually speaks Chinese at home, so when I come here I feel that I could not speak fluently.

The teacher is very stern compare to the senior in the CCA Orientation. I had to write down a lot of information about the new student in this school. I get along with many friends which made me felt very happy. This school is very clean and dust, stench-free. The food in the canteen is very delicious and very cheap. I ate a lot during the first day in the school. I am very curious about the taste of the food in the canteen.

I feel that this school is excellent because of the clean environment. But I need to do a lot of homeworks everyday. I am waiting for the Chinese New Year's vacation which is just around of the corner.

Self-introduction

Sorry for my late blogging, I was too busy this few day. As you know, I need to complete this blog tonight. I am Lim Wei Hng from 1o2 class, I study in the Hwa Chong Instituition. I like to read novel, especially Chinese Novel. My hobby is playing football and playing the computer games. Of course, I cannot play in this boarding school.

I am from Malaysia and I am the one of the scholars who study here. I was born in April. My father is a photographer and my mother is a housewife. Unlike other people, my mother helps my father almost everyday in his shop, but still, my mother cares for my siblings and me the most. I have one brother and two sister, which study in the same primary school when I was a ordinary primary schoolboy. Finally, I hope I can be the doctor one day.
